Jack Britt has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the South View Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Jack Britt is ranked 285th, while South View is ranked 279th).
Last Friday, Jack Britt strolled past Gray's Creek with points to spare, taking the game 49-32.
Jack Britt's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryan Lord, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds. Lord hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Tysean Major, who scored eight points along with seven assists and six rebounds.
Even though South View has not done well against Cape Fear recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. South View blew past Cape Fear 66-45. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win South View has posted yet this season.
Antrell Gilmore was the offensive standout of the contest as he scored 16 points along with six steals. Chase Evans was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Jack Britt pushed their record up to 10-5 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.8 points per game. South View's record is now 8-6.
Tuesday's matchup is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Jack Britt have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 39.1% of their threes per game. However, it's not like South View struggles in that department as they've made 39.3% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Jack Britt lost to South View on the road by a decisive 61-43 margin in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Jack Britt avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
