It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Palmer Ridge Bears had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by Denver South at home to the tune of 42-6. Palmer Ridge's victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Palmer Ridge got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was James "jimmer" Weir out in front who picked up 131 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Weir was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 64 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabe Klein, who rushed for 130 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries.
Palmer Ridge's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-0. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 10-2 Montrose and 9-3 Lewis-Palmer (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 61.6% over those games). As for Denver South, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.
Palmer Ridge's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Denver South does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
