It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Windsor Academy Knights had no problem doing just that on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 48-21 victory over Holy Spirit Prep. Considering Windsor Academy has won six games by more than 26 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Windsor Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mason Merritt out in front who threw for 193 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.9% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Merritt hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Jay Singleton, who rushed for 162 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.7 yards per carry.
The victory was the fifth in a row for Windsor Academy, bringing their record for this year to 9-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 48.8 points per game. As for Holy Spirit Prep, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-2.
Windsor Academy will face off against Westminster Schools of Augusta at TBD on Saturday. One thing working in Westminster Schools of Augusta's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last ten contests. Holy Spirit Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
