When it comes to explaining why Marlboro lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Matthew Cassidy. Despite the final result, he rushed for 136 yards and a touchdown.
Cherokee was led to victory by Ryan Bender and Murad Campfield. Bender rushed for 115 yards, while Campfield rushed for 117 yards and a touchdown.
Marlboro's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Cherokee, they pushed their record up to 9-2 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
Marlboro does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Cherokee will be playing in front of their home fans against Toms River North at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Toms River North is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
