PITTSFIELD, Mass. -
St. Joseph Central (Pittsfield, Mass.) and
Monument Mountain/Mt. Everett (Great Barrington, Mass.) both received superb games from their defenses, but St. Joseph Central was able to break through the stalemate for a 6-0 win.
The Crusaders scored on a rushing touchdown to secure the victory.
The lead that St. Joseph Central took on a
Jon Bianchi touchdown run with 10:00 to go in the second quarter stood up for the duration of the game, as neither team managed to score in the second half.
Bianchi was the top performer for SJC. The senior quarterback ran for one touchdown. He has now scored three touchdowns on the season.
The Pittsfield school came into the game allowing 14.3 points per game.
The Crusaders also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 48-20.
The win was a nice bounce back for St. Joseph Central, which lost to Mt. Greylock Regional last week, 44-6.
St. Joseph Central (6-2) will play a Berkshires game against Pittsfield next week, while Monument Mountain/Mt. Everett (1-7) will take on Lee/Lenox Memorial also in a Berkshires game.
