The Altamont Longhorns's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Green River Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Altamont is ranked 131st, while Green River is ranked 116th).
Altamont suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They were dealt a 80-53 defeat at the hands of Wendover.
Meanwhile, Green River scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Monument Valley 90-50 on the road. That looming 90-50 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Green River yet this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Green River to victory, but perhaps none more so than Raul Mendoza, who scored 23 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mendoza has scored all season. Luis Hernandez was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Altamont bumped their record down to 3-7 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Green River, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.
Altamont came up short against Green River when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 61-54. Can Altamont avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
