There's no place like home for the Brandeis Broncos, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Madison 59-28 at home. Given Brandeis' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 39th, while Madison is ranked 587th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Brandeis was led to victory by Abigail Burdette and Rian Forestier. Burdette scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and six assists, while Forestier scored 25 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Forestier has scored at least a third of Brandeis' points. Another player making a difference was Peyton Pierson, who scored three points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Despite the loss, Madison still got an impressive performance from Jada Castleberry, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Shailah McClue, who scored six points along with two steals.
Brandeis pushed their record up to 23-9 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.1 points per game. As for Madison, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-19 record this season.
Brandeis will head out on the road to face off against Johnson at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Johnson knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Brandeis likes a good challenge. As for Madison, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Clark at 7:00 p.m.
