Oak Ridge (El Dorado Hills, Calif.) snapped
Burbank (Sacramento, Calif.)'s 12-game winning streak, with a 24-6 victory on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by
Jason Samuels to
Ross Dwelley in the second quarter, the Trojans led 17-0 at the half.
Oak Ridge expanded its lead to 18 points entering the fourth quarter. OR's lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown run by
Blake Martin.
With the win the El Dorado Hills school extended its winning streak to seven games. The Trojans defeated the Pride 17-16 last week.
Oak Ridge's standout player in the win was Samuels. The senior quarterback threw two touchdowns. He has now scored three touchdowns on the season.
Ernest Jenkins made a difference for the Titans. The junior quarterback threw one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to 13 on the year.
Burbank's lone touchdown came on a 39-yard pass from Jenkins to
Calvin Green in the third quarter.
OR went into the matchup giving up only 15.9 points per game. The six points that BHS ended with were well below its average of 46.7 coming into the game.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 30-28 win for the Trojans.
The defeat comes as a step back for Burbank, which notched a 32-27 victory over Pleasant Grove in its previous outing.
