The Agua Fria Owls will take on the Greyhills Academy Knights in a holiday battle at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Agua Fria and six for Greyhills Academy.
Last Tuesday, Agua Fria was beaten by Dysart 93-50. While losing is never fun, Agua Fria can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 281st, while Dysart is ranked 51st).
Despite their loss, Agua Fria saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Amari Johnson, who scored ten points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Bryan Burrows, who scored 13 points.
Agua Fria struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Greyhills Academy lost to Many Farms at home by a decisive 62-45 margin on Tuesday.
Agua Fria bumped their record down to 1-9 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.6 points per game. As for Greyhills Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
Everything came up roses for Agua Fria against Greyhills Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2015 as the team secured a 117-31 win. Does Agua Fria have another victory up their sleeve, or will Greyhills Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
