The Union City Soaring Eagles had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They didn't even let Clifton onto the board and left with a 21-0 win. The result was nothing new for Union City, who have now won five games by 21 points or more so far this season.
Union City's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Elijah Rose led the charge by rushing for 124 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. Rose is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last three games he's played. Mark Boyd and his 103 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Union City's win.
Union City's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-1. As for Clifton, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
Union City does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Clifton will head out on the road to face off against Westfield at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
