Brooks Hendrix made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Nolan Schwalbach was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Charlie Messmer also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Highlands kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Boone County only managed seven hits.
Highlands is on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 22 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-9-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Anderson, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-9.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Anderson hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320.
