The Middle Creek Mustangs won the last time they faced the Cary Imps, and things went their way on Wednesday too. Middle Creek took down the Imps 62-47. Given Middle Creek's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 51st, while the Imps are ranked 251st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Middle Creek to victory, but perhaps none more so than Joi Pergerson, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Furst, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Despite the loss, Cary still got an impressive performance from Nadia Snesarev, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kyndall Brewington, who scored 16 points.
Middle Creek's victory bumped their record up to 14-3. As for Cary, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.
Middle Creek's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Falcons at 5:30 p.m. on January 26th. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Abigail Brown and Pergerson. As for Cary, they will head out on the road to square off against the Catamounts at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Panther Creek's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven matchups.
