The Sequoia Charter Stallions suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They were dealt a 65-30 defeat at the hands of ASU Prep Poly. While losing is never fun, Sequoia Charter can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 215th, while ASU Prep Poly is ranked 96th).
Leading ASU Prep Poly to victory were Aidan Collins and CJ Welcome. Collins dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds, while Welcome scored 12 points along with four steals. Welcome is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Turner, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Sequoia Charter bumped their record down to 3-7 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for ASU Prep Poly, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.
Sequoia Charter will be playing in front of their home fans against Empower College Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for ASU Prep Poly, they will head out on the road to face off against Mission Heights Prep at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
