The 268 yards give the Rover senior 8,549 career yards bettering the previous record of 8,545 yards set last year by
Lancaster Catholic (Pa.) quarterback Kyle Smith, who is now at Central Michigan.
Buganza, who has 1,802 yards and 18 touchdown passes on the year, was 21 of 29 for the 268 yards, a touchdown and a pick in the game. He threw a 20-yard score to
Mike Vervoort in the first quarter giving Brockway a 7-0 lead.
Considering all the great quarterbacks from Pennsylvania - Joe Montana, Johnny Unitas, Dan Marino and Joe Namath to name a few - Buganza's accomplishment is even greater.

“It’s a great accomplishment for Derek, everyone that’s played here, all the receivers, running backs, the linemen that have contributed to it and it’s great for the school, the entire community,” Brockway head coach Fran Varischetti told the
Tri-County Sunday out of DuBois.
Buganza threw for 2,923 yards and 28 touchdowns as a sophomore and a state-record 3,824 yards and 37 touchdowns as a junior. He now holds three state passing records – all-time leading passer, single-season leading passer and single-game passer (594 yards vs. Otto-Eldred Sept. 25, 2009).
