The Elevation Prep Academy Honey Badgers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 80-70 hit to the loss column at the hands of New Life Christian Academy. While losing is never fun, Elevation Prep Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 351st, while New Life Christian Academy is ranked 157th).
Elevation Prep Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being TYLER CRIDER, who scored 17 points along with six assists and three steals. Another player making a difference was JAYLEN THOMAS, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds.
New Life Christian Academy had a senior duo take command as Kaleb James scored 18 points along with four steals and Marquez Rochelle scored 22 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jahiem Tucker, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Elevation Prep Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for New Life Christian Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elevation Prep Academy will square off against Combine Academy National at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Combine Academy National knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine contests -- so hopefully Elevation Prep Academy likes a good challenge. As for New Life Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Varsity Opponent on Monday.
