It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Saugatuck Trailblazers had no problem doing just that on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 42-27 win over Saranac. The win was just what Saugatuck needed coming off of a 41-21 defeat in their prior matchup.
Saugatuck got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Will Doucette out in front who rushed for 204 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.5 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Hartgerink, who rushed for 148 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.7 yards per carry.
Saugatuck's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Saranac, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 5-5.
Saugatuck will play host again and welcome White Pigeon, where kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. White Pigeon is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. Saranac does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
