The Shorecrest Prep Chargers will face off against the Largo Packers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Shorecrest Prep's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Boca Ciega with a sharp 11-0 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Chargers, who have now won four games in a row.

Bobbie Strus made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Madi Bidwell was incredible, scoring four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Georgia Strus, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.
Shorecrest Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Boca Ciega only posted an OBP of .000.
Meanwhile, Largo won against Indian Rocks Christian on Friday with 14 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Packers were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over St. Petersburg. Winning may never get old, but the Packers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
The result came thanks to Paige Sofge's shutout, as she gave up just four hits.
On the hitting side, Claire Meloy and Miranda Rollins did most of the damage at the plate: Meloy scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3, while Rollins scored four runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Those three runs gave Meloy a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Elle Fleck, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Shorecrest Prep pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Largo, their victory bumped their record up to 11-4.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Shorecrest Prep has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .490. However, it's not like Largo struggles in that department as they've averaged .433. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Shorecrest Prep was able to grind out a solid win over Largo in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 10-6. Do the Chargers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Packers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
