Fans got a thrill when Chris Oladokun and Ish Witter connected against Wharton. The longest such play in 8A District 6 this season, the connection resulted in 84 yards.
Alonso scaled the state rankings by moving to 151 from 196 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Ravens climbed the ranks as a result of beating the Wildcats 33-15.
Alonso's dynamic duo of Oladokun and Witter proved to be unstoppable against Wharton, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Oladokun threw for 201 yards and 2 touchdowns and Witter had 84 yards receiving. Brandon Robinson helped Alonso's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 46 yards.
He went 10-17 with 0 interceptions.
Colby Brown was a passing and rushing force as Plant bested Newsome. He completed 14 passes for 179 yards and 2 touchdowns and also ran for 38 yards. Brown's favorite target this week was Alexander Jackson, who caught 5 passes for 58 yards.
6-foot-1 quarterback Brown of the Panthers is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,532. He has also thrown 19 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Doug Sandberg. The Bloomingdale star has 36 catches for 478 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Plant takes on second place Wharton. Plant topped the Wolves last week, while David Mitchell's team fell to Brian Emanuel's team.
Bloomingdale and Riverview played the most contested game in 8A District 6 this week, with Bloomingdale eventually emerging with a 27-24 victory.
