After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Richwood, the Sterlington Panthers were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They breezed by Bastrop at home to the tune of 74-37. That's another feather in the cap for Sterlington, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Leading Sterlington to victory were Khristian Johnson and Cooper Nelson. Johnson scored 21 points along with six rebounds and two steals, while Nelson scored 23 points along with two steals. Johnson is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Memphis Singleton, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Sterlington's victory bumped their record up to 15-12. As for Bastrop, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-21.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sterlington will take on the Farmers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Louisiana (Union Parish is ranked 200th, while the Panthers are ranked 175th). As for Bastrop, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Wossman will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
