The Mascoutah Indians won the last time they faced the Jersey Panthers, and things went their way  on Friday too. Mascoutah took down the Panthers 48-31. Given Mascoutah's advantage  in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings  (they are ranked 114th, while the Panthers are ranked 350th), the result  wasn't entirely unexpected.
 When it comes to explaining why Jersey lost, one person who can't be blamed is  Francis Vogel. Despite the final result, he  scored ten points along with five  assists and five  rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of  Jaxon Brunaugh, who  scored 13 points along with six  rebounds.
 Mascoutah has  been performing  well recently as they've  won three of their last four matchups,  which provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season. As for Jersey, their defeat was  their fourth straight on the road, which  dropped their record down to 10-17.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mascoutah won't have much time to rest: their next  game is against the Tigers at 2:00  p.m.  on February 3rd. As for Jersey, they will head out on the road to  face off against  the Hawks at 7:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. Carrollton is coming into the  contest on a four-game losing streak.
