STOCKTON, Calif. - After trading leads two times,
Tracy (Calif.) snatched the lead for good when
Bruce Russel ran for a two-point conversion in the third quarter, paving the way for victory over
Chavez (Stockton, Calif.) 28-20.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Jonathan Johnson, the Titans went into halftime with a 14-6 lead. The Bulldogs took the lead for good with a two-point conversion in the third quarter.
Russel stood out for Tracy in the win. The senior ran for three touchdowns. He has now scored 11 touchdowns on the season.
Johnson made a difference for Chavez. The senior ran for two touchdowns.
When the two teams played each other last season, THS came away with a 41-6 victory.
The defeat comes as a step back for Chavez, which notched a 47-23 victory over Bear Creek in its previous outing. The win was a nice bounce back for the Bulldogs, which lost to Lincoln last week, 62-32.
Chavez (3-6) will play a San Joaquin AA game against Franklin next week, while Tracy (6-3) will take on Bear Creek also in a San Joaquin AA game.
