The Calhoun Sandcrabs will head out on the road to face off against the Rockport-Fulton Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Calhoun started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Jones. They took a 28-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trojans on Friday.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Alex Parker, who rushed for 65 yards and two touchdowns. Jayce Campos was another key contributor, rushing for 55 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Rockport-Fulton won a contest that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Floresville 22-21. The victory was just what Rockport-Fulton needed coming off of a 50-17 defeat in their prior game.
Jones' win bumped their season record to 7-1 while Calhoun's loss dropped theirs to 4-4.
Everything went Calhoun's way against Rockport-Fulton in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as Calhoun made off with a 31-10 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Calhoun since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
