Make it six blowout wins for the Chiefland Indians this season. They blew past North Marion 61-38. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Chiefland has posted since December 12, 2023.
Chiefland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Laila Ingram led the charge by scoring 13 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ingram has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Riley Davies, who scored 14 points along with five steals.
Despite the loss, North Marion saw an underclassman step up: Amarane Hopkins dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds. Hopkins also posted two blocks for the first time this season.
Chiefland's win bumped their record up to 8-10. As for North Marion, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-16.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chiefland's road trip will continue as they head out to face Williston at 6:00 p.m. on January 25th. North Marion won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Forest at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Forest presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than North Marion in Florida (Forest is ranked 186th, while North Marion is ranked 574th).
