Rhinebeck had lost five games at home dating back to last season, but after bumping their record up to 2-7 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They put the hurt on the Webutuck Warriors with a sharp 18-8 victory. The Hawks not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 26, 2024 (when they won 17-4).
Henry Lehane made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Rhinebeck got a massive performance out of Damian Haag, who went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Jacob Stephan, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Rhinebeck always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .652. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
As for Webutuck, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-3. Those road losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games.
On Webutuck's side, James Singleton made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That double marked the first that Singleton has hit this season. Jayden Avery was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.
Coincidentally, Rhinebeck and Webutuck will both be playing Millbrook the next time they take the field. The Hawks will head out to face the Blazers at 4:15 p.m. on Friday, while the Warriors will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
