The Annapolis Area Christian Eagles lost against the Riverdale Baptist Crusaders back in December of 2016, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Annapolis Area Christian was outmatched by Riverdale Baptist at home and fell 85-46. While losing is never fun, Annapolis Area Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 162nd, while Riverdale Baptist is ranked 21st).
Riverdale Baptist's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ashley Sims led the charge by scoring 14 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sims has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Furman, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds.
Annapolis Area Christian bumped their record down to 1-6 with that defeat, which was their 12th straight at home. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.5 points per game. As for Riverdale Baptist, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Annapolis Area Christian will take on Chapelgate Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Chapelgate Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Friday. Riverdale Baptist won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Patrick School at 3:30 p.m. on January 21st.
