Topsail took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. They blew past the Jacksonville Cardinals 12-1.
Madyson Turlington made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off eight hits (and not a single walk). Turlington was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4. What's more, she posted two hits, the most she's had since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Emma Rose was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Beatty, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Topsail kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jacksonville only managed eight hits.
Jacksonville's loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Topsail will take on West Johnston at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Jacksonville, they will venture away from home to take on White Oak at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
