AAAA Region VII recap Sept. 26, 2012
Cane Bay was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Ashley Ridge 36-28. Cane Bay came in at 24 in the state poll after placing at number 47 last week.
Wando extended the longest winning streak in AAAA Region VII this week by beating Fort Dorchester, 32-28. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
Goose Creek's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Dantez Bennamon threw for 90 yards and Tramel Terry had 73 yards receiving. On the ground Rico Blanding chipped in 85 yards. Kalan Ritchie helped Goose Creek's passing attack out by catching one ball for 17 yards.
Goose Creek's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Gators feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Bennamon has thrown for 388 yards and four touchdowns this season, while Terry has 21 catches for 267 yards. Caleb Kinlaw leads the league in rushing with 424 yards.
Wando and the Patriots played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Wando eventually emerging with a 32-28 victory.
