Valley Mills had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 10-5 win over the Dawson Bulldogs on Wednesday. The victory was nothing new for the Eagles as they're now sitting on three straight.
Jackson Sparkman made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Sparkman was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Andrew Rodriguez was excellent, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Christian Lazarine, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Valley Mills always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dawson only posted an OBP of .371.
Valley Mills' win bumped their record up to 20-10. As for Dawson, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-10.
