Parrish Community and Lakewood Ranch are an even 4-4 against one another since March of 2021, but likely not for long. The Parrish Community Bulls will host the Lakewood Ranch Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Parrish Community is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Lakewood Ranch's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Tuesday: Parrish Community hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. Parrish Community didn't even let Steinbrenner on the board on Friday, marking Parrish Community's second-straight 3-0 shutout.
Parrish Community got a great performance from Isabella Yazzetti as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Yazzetti has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Cassidy Ott was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Madelina Chapman, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lakewood Ranch). They were the clear victor by a 24-12 margin over Palmetto on Thursday. With that victory, the Mustangs brought their scoring average up to 8.4 runs per game.
Payton Burdick and Maddison Anderson did most of the damage at the plate: Burdick went 4-for-6 with seven RBI, two runs, and one double, while Anderson went 2-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four hits gave Burdick a new career-high. Corin Soria was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-5.
Lakewood Ranch hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Lakewood Ranch has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. Parrish Community's win bumped their record up to 6-0.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Parrish Community hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .369. However, it's not like Lakewood Ranch struggles in that department as they've averaged .340. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Parrish Community's way against Lakewood Ranch in their previous meeting back in February, as Parrish Community made off with a 7-1 victory. Will Parrish Community repeat their success, or does Lakewood Ranch have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
