Braxton County had lost eight straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 4-14 to make it nine. They fell 13-10 to the Calhoun Red Devils. Surprisingly, this marked the Eagles' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
Logan Baldwin put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Baldwin wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Luke Kelly, who went 4-for-5 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Kelly is becoming a predictor of Braxton County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 2-13 when he doesn't). Another was Landon Mays, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
As for Calhoun, their record is now 9-14. Surprisingly, this marked their fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
On Calhoun's side, Kayden McCormick tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave McCormick a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Landon Church was incredible, going 3-for-6 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Camron Jarvis, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Braxton County has already played their next game, a 1-0 win against Tyler on the 29th. As for Calhoun, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 4-3 defeat against Roane County on the 29th.
