City View is 2-7 against Holliday since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The City View Mustangs will look to defend their home field against the Holliday Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
City View fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They blew past Valley View 73-19 on the road.
Meanwhile, Holliday entered their tilt with S & S Consolidated with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Holliday took their matchup at home last Friday with ease, bagging a 62-0 win over S & S Consolidated. Given Holliday's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 277th, while S & S Consolidated is ranked 1110th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Holliday had a senior duo take command as Grant Cox threw for 208 yards and four touchdowns while completing 88.9% of his passes and Tyrese Polite gained 86 total yards and two touchdowns. Polite was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 65 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Jones, who rushed for 22 yards and a touchdown.
City View has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Holliday, their victory was their sixth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-1.
City View couldn't quite finish off Holliday when the teams last played back in October of 2022 and fell 3-0. Will City View have more luck at home instead of on the road?
