On Thursday, Mater Academy East Las Vegas strolled past Virgin Valley with points to spare, taking the game 69-52. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Mater Academy East Las Vegas.
It was another big night for Lonnie Bass Jr., who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 17 rebounds. Bass Jr. is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tru Young, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds.
Virgin Valley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Malachi Davis, who scored 11 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Cameron Spilker, who scored 13 points.
Mater Academy East Las Vegas' victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.4 points per game. As for Virgin Valley, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-8.
Mater Academy East Las Vegas will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Democracy Prep Agassi Campus at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Virgin Valley won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Cristo Rey St. Viator at 4:00 p.m. on January 12th. Cristo Rey St. Viator comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last five games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
