Baseball Recap: Springboro Has No Trouble Against Springfield

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Springboro). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Springfield Wildcats a 16-0 shutout on Wednesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Springboro got a great performance from Colten Muhlenkamp as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched.

At the plate, Ben Veletean was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. He also brought in two RBI, marking his first of the season. Evan King was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Springboro always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Springboro and bumps their season record up to 4-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Springfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2-1.

Springboro will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
