The Holly Wildcats had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They took down South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] 57-40 on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Holly also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
Holly's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Devin Eaton led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and 10 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Andre Salgado, who scored 12 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
Despite the loss, South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] still got an impressive performance from Hayden Brooks, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. Dallas Calzonetti was another key contributor, scoring 10 points.
South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Holly pulled down 15.
Holly's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett], their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Holly will be playing at home against Sierra Grande at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Sierra Grande focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Friday. As for South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett], they will head out on the road to face off against Springfield at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
