It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Valley Mills Eagles had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They came out on top against Axtell by a score of 29-18. This was payback for Valley Mills, who suffered a 21-20 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Valley Mills' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cason Johnson, who picked up 80 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. Valley Mills also got help from Brady Woodrome who showed off his sure hands for 147 receiving yards.
Valley Mills is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Axtell, their loss dropped their record down to 10-1.
Valley Mills is on the road again on Friday and play against Tioga. Tioga is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games. Axtell does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
