Even though the Effingham County Rebels have not done well against the Lakeside Panthers recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Effingham County secured a 59-55 W over Lakeside. The victory was all the more spectacular given Effingham County's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 217th, while Lakeside is ranked 107th).
Lakeside's loss came despite strong showings from Bryce Reynierson and Ty Jones. Reynierson scored 18 points along with six rebounds and two steals, while Jones scored 21 points. Jones' trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Brandon Grissom Jr was another key contributor, scoring six points along with four steals.
Effingham County has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season. As for Lakeside, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-9.
Effingham County's road trip will continue as they head out to face Evans at 6:30 p.m. on January 26th. One thing working in Evans' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five games. As for Lakeside, they will be playing in front of their home fans against South Effingham at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
