Cypress Bay and Western are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2018, but likely not for long. The Cypress Bay Lightning will face off against the Western Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cypress Bay hasn't scored more than two runs for three games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.
On Monday, Cypress Bay came up short against Archbishop Carroll and fell 4-1.

At the plate, Cypress Bay saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Diego Baron, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Western fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Cooper City on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cowboys by a score of 4-2. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Wildcats couldn't push the score so high this time.
Zach Beyra was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.
On the hitting side, Taisuky Rodriguez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Keagan Pita also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Cypress Bay now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Western, their record now sits at 7-5.
Cypress Bay's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's game. Cypress Bay has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Western, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Cypress Bay continue to outrun the ball?
Cypress Bay might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Western in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Cypress Bay avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
