A well-balanced attack led the Bluegrass United Bluehawks over the Shelby County Rockets in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Bluegrass United strolled past Shelby County with points to spare, taking the game 53-36. Given Bluegrass United's advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while Shelby County is ranked 244th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bluegrass United got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Allie McGuire out in front who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. McGuire hasn't dropped below two steals for 11 straight games. Piper Graham was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with three steals.
Bluegrass United is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. As for Shelby County, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-21.
Bluegrass United is on the road again on Friday and plays Richmond HomeSchool at 5:30 p.m. on February 9th. Hopefully Bluegrass United focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Tuesday. As for Shelby County, they will head out on the road to challenge Grant County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Grant County's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Shelby County has been banged up by 12 consecutive losses on the road.
