Show Low is 2-8 against Winslow since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Show Low Cougars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Winslow Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Show Low's favor as the squad sits on eight straight wins at home while Winslow has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
Show Low stacked a 13th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Blue Ridge 44-15 at home. Given Show Low's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while Blue Ridge is ranked 52nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Aubrie Wilson was her usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Grace Moore was another key contributor, scoring six points along with nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Winslow sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 42-39 win over Holbrook on Friday.
Winslow had a senior duo take command as Jaci Gonnie scored 12 points and Jauslyn Nells dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Taylin Puhuhefvaya, who scored five points along with six rebounds.
Show Low's win bumped their record up to 26-2. As for Winslow, their victory bumped their record up to 6-17.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Show Low have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 35 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Winslow struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24.1 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Show Low took their win against Winslow when the teams last played two weeks ago by a conclusive 57-32. Will Show Low repeat their success, or does Winslow have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
