Basketball Recap: Mountain View Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Mountain View needed a changed in momentum after dropping five straight games and they got it from Marlene Carrillo. The Mountain View Mountain Lions slipped by the Wellington Eagles 39-38 on Tuesday thanks in part to Carrillo, who posted 14 points and eight boards. She has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ava Essay, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. Essay also posted a block, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was London Morgan, who earned 11 points and eight boards.

Mountain View's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 4-7. As for Wellington, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-8.

Mountain View has already played their next matchup, a 46-30 victory against Thornton on the 16th. As for Wellington, they will host Severance at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Wellington is facing Severance at the right time seeing as Severance is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
