Sparta Academy and Patrician Academy are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2014, but not for long. The Sparta Academy Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Patrician Academy Saints at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Sparta Academy will be looking to keep their 17-game home win streak alive.
While it was all tied up 19-19 at halftime, Sparta Academy was not quite Jackson Academy's equal in the second half on Friday. Sparta Academy fell 39-32 to Jackson Academy.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jamie Ellissa Deason, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. That was a full 37.5% of Sparta Academy's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Mary Trainham Brock, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Patrician Academy's four-game losing streak came to an end last Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Southern Academy 31-29.
Sparta Academy's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-3. As for Patrician Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 1-2.
Sparta Academy strolled past Patrician Academy in their previous matchup on January 5th by a score of 46-31. Does Sparta Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Patrician Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
