Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ritchie County). They put the hurt on St. Marys with a sharp 16-0 victory on Thursday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Rebels with their most commanding win of the season.
Brayson Hayes was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Ritchie County got a big performance out of Rhett Johnson, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Johnson has posted over his last 15 games. Another player making a difference was Turner Shriver, who went 1-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Ritchie County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive matches.

Everything went Robert C. Byrd's way against Ritchie County in their previous matchup on Monday, as Robert C. Byrd made off with a 10-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
