Sadie Johnson looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Maryville let Harper White and Macey Hemphill run wild. White went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two runs, while Hemphill scored four runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Hemphill has posted since back in March of 2024. Ava Maples was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Maryville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jefferson County only posted an OBP of .407.
Meanwhile, Powell had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They never let the Spartans get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory.
The team relied heavily on Nevaeh Wells, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Langston Coggins, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Powell's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-6. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Maryville, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-7.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Maryville hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Powell struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
