Basketball Recap: Monroe Central Piles Up the Points Against Cambridge City Lincoln

With a playoff win on the line, Monroe Central rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They blew past the Cambridge City Lincoln Golden Eagles 73-35. The Golden Bears have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 22 points or more this season.

Monroe Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Easton Foster, who almost dropped a double-double with 21 points and nine rebounds. Foster is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last 20 games he's played. Luke Morgan was another key player, going 5-for-8 to rack up 14 points along with six rebounds and six steals.

Monroe Central was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cambridge City Lincoln only four assists.

Despite the loss, Cambridge City Lincoln still got an impressive performance from Aidan Munchel, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 11 boards. That's the most rebounds Munchel has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Dustin Lunsford, who earned eight points.

The win was the fourth in a row for Monroe Central, bringing their record for this year to 16-6. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 27 points. As for Cambridge City Lincoln, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season.

Monroe Central will take on Union at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Monroe Central will be up against Union's rather soft defense (which has allowed 65.5 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. Cambridge City Lincoln does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
