It was a good run, but The Cummings Cavaliers unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of North Moore by a score of 36-33. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Cummings' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jonathan Paylor, who rushed for 131 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.7 yards per carry, and Devin Witherspoon who rushed for 55 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. Paylor was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards.
Jakarey Gillis had a dynamite game for North Moore, rushing for 206 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.8 yards per carry. Kolby Ritchie was another key contributor, gaining 97 total yards and two touchdowns.
Cummings' loss dropped their record down to 7-2. As for North Moore, their win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-2.
Cummings will challenge Southeast Alamance at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Southeast Alamance's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last five matches. As for North Moore, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Chatham Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Chatham Central is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
