The Keystone Wildcats will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Independence Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Friday, Keystone was able to grind out a solid victory over Johnsonville, taking the game 12-8. That's two games straight that the Wildcats have won by exactly four runs.
Macie Banks spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Keystone got a massive performance out of Tatum Holzhauer, who went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases and three runs. Holzhauer is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Corinne Lamb was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
Keystone always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2025.
Meanwhile, Independence was not the first on the board on Thursday, but they got there more often. They skirted past Canton Central Catholic 13-11. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blue Devils.
Melina Rodriguez was a standout: she fired off three runs, three doubles, and four RBI while going 4-for-4. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lila Manfredonia, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.
Independence's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Keystone, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Keystone suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Independence in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Will the Wildcats have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
