ThunderRidge is 8-0 against Rock Canyon since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The ThunderRidge Grizzlies will be playing at home against the Rock Canyon Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. Neither ThunderRidge nor Rock Canyon posted many points in their last games could muster much offensive firepower in their last games.
Last Friday, ThunderRidge was beaten by Valor Christian 41-7. ThunderRidge was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-0.
Despite their defeat, ThunderRidge saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Evan Olds, who gained 150 total yards, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Ryan Gonzales, who threw for 196 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Rock Canyon faced Castle View in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Rock Canyon walked away with a 10-3 victory over Castle View on Friday.
Rock Canyon can attribute much of their success to Tyler Meyer, who rushed for 147 yards and a touchdown.
ThunderRidge now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Rock Canyon, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. ThunderRidge has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 179.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Rock Canyon struggles in that department as they've been even better at 192.9 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
ThunderRidge came out on top in a nail-biter against Rock Canyon when the teams last played back in October of 2022, sneaking past 13-10. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Rock Canyon's Aidan Duda, who rushed for 168 yards and a touchdown. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for ThunderRidge to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
