4A Region II District 13 recap October 22, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Lovejoy, who defeated 232nd ranked Denison, 56-42. Bowman Sells threw for 220 yards and 4 touchdowns in the win.
The Leopards moved up to 287 from 321 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 4A Region II District 13. Lovejoy climbed the ranks as a result of topping the Yellowjackets 56-42.
He was 18-31 with 1 interception.
Ben Dutze was a passing and rushing force as McKinney North fell to Wylie. He completed 14 passes for 225 yards and 1 touchdown and also ran for 14 yards. Dutze's favorite target this week was Kervin Parks, who caught 2 passes for 64 yards.
Justice Luce was the best wideout in the league this week as Matt Green's team defeated Denison. Luce racked up 5 receptions for 110 yards. Grant Jarvis helped Lovejoy's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 43 yards.
The Leopards' Dakota Michaels and Luce led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Michaels has thrown for 1,286 yards this season, while Luce has 40 catches for 1,002 yards. The Bulldogs' Ronald Jones leads the league in rushing yards with 1,265.
One of 4A Region II District 13's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when Lovejoy and Sherman face off next week.
The Pirates are in second place, while the Yellowjackets are in fourth place.
Wylie East took down Greenville 60-20 last week, the largest margin of any game.
