Hayden is 1-9 against the Spartans since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Hayden Wildcats will head out on the road to take on the Emporia Spartans at 7:30 p.m. Hayden has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 20.
Hayden pushed their score all the way to 56 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 68-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Manhattan. While losing is never fun, Hayden can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 214th, while the Indians are ranked 53rd).
Meanwhile, Emporia ended up a good deal behind the Blues on Friday and lost 48-31. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Emporia has scored all season.
Hayden's loss was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Emporia, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.
Hayden lost to the Spartans on the road by a decisive 58-42 margin in their previous meeting back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Emporia's River Peters, who scored 21 points along with three steals. Now that Hayden knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
