Delaware County Christian is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Wednesday. They will venture away from home to take on the MAST Community Charter Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Delaware County Christian gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past High Point Baptist Academy 4-2.

Josiah Lyren
04/01/25 @ High Point Baptist Academy | 9 |
04/29/24 @ Church Farm | 5 |
04/22/24 @ Jenkintown | 2 |
03/21/24 @ Episcopal Academy | 2 |
03/17/25 @ Kennett | 1 |
Delaware County Christian got a great performance from Josiah Lyren as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave Lyren a new career-high.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nathan Burd, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Matteo DeBellis also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask MAST Community Charter). They never let Jenkintown get on the board and left with a 26-0 victory on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Dan Roantree made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Roantree was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Armando Taglianetti and Keegan Kanagie did most of the damage at the plate: Taglianetti scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Kanagie went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Taglianetti has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was David Kondravy, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3.
MAST Community Charter hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jenkintown struck out eight times.
The victory got MAST Community Charter back to even at 3-3. As for Delaware County Christian, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Delaware County Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like MAST Community Charter struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Delaware County Christian skirted past MAST Community Charter 8-6 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
